Pentecost

Dear Friends,

Like all birthdays, yours included, it’s special. Today, we celebrate the birthday of the Church (the People) that Jesus left to continue His Mission. For what purpose? The answer is given in the responsorial psalm today: “Send forth your spirit O Lord and renew the face of the earth.” Yes, the Holy Spirit is now our guide as we all seek to navigate our way through life. He is the revelation of God in a form that accompanies us on life’s journey. Only two weeks ago Bishop Richard was with us to confirm a new group of young people from this parish and Camberley and Bagshot as well as Thames Ditton.

The only way this can happen and bring new life and witness to the church is if these young people as well as ourselves ask the Holy Spirit to guide us each day of our lives. We will have the courage to bear witness to the life of Jesus in our time.

Action needed: We have begun to hear the message that there will be less priests in many countries of the world. We may be blessed by reverse mission in that many of the countries that heard the gospel from European countries now have their own clergy and may send some this way.

My personal wish and hope is that the youth who were confirmed and their siblings would take an active part in church ministry now. You are worthy, you are able, pray for guidance and offer to willingness to become readers of God’s Word and eucharistic ministers please – we need you and you will inspire others. There are sign-up sheets in the church porch.

“Never say to God: ‘Enough.’ Simply say: “I am ready.”

Jean Watkins

Jean will be moving to Somerset to be near her daughter Catherine. No words are adequate to do justice to her long service to this community. A going away party takes place in the hall on Monday 3rd June from 2.30pm to 5pm. (Please see overleaf for more details). Pray for us Jean as we will for you.
