Girlguiding - are you looking for a new adventure? Then read on……..
I recently became volunteer Division Commissioner for Camberley Division, supporting Districts with Rainbow, Brownie, Guide and Ranger units covering Frimley, Frimley Green and Mytchett, Lightwater and Windlesham, Heatherside and Bagshot, and Camberley West. Our amazing volunteer leaders have done an outstanding job to keep the spirit of Girlguiding going during COVID. From weekly zoom calls, Facebook group challenges and visiting girls to make their promise on their doorstep, to cycling individual activity packs around the area for their girls to enjoy!
Recently, we have started face to face meetings, and as we head towards a summer break, we look forward to the autumn term and welcoming new faces. There are so many fun activities we will be able to do again like play funfair games (homemade!), cook on a campfire, donutting at the local ski slope, scavenger hunt, penny hike, just to name but a few. Over the years I have had the privilege to take Rangers to Canada and Belgium, visit 2 of the World Centres in Switzerland and London, participate in a community project in Thailand, train to be an archery instructor and have a go at activities I would never have done if it hadn’t been for Girlguiding. I’ve met so many wonderful, inspiring people. Girlguiding has so much to offer volunteers and girls.
If this has whetted your appetite as an adult to know more about how you can become involved, and there are many ways from helping at meetings, being a secretary, helping with unit shopping or accounts just to name a few, then please drop me, Kate Praine, an email at firstname.lastname@example.org or head to https://www.girlguiding.org.uk/get-involved/
