RCIA

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

The RCIA is a programme built on the Church’s philosophy of Catechesis.  It is a process of introducing and welcoming enquirers to the Catholic Church, undertaking their spiritual care and instruction, and leading them to Christ through the sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation.  RCIA provides a complete course for those who have little or no knowledge of Christ and the Church.

RCIA is a flexible programme and can be adapted for people who have had some contact with the Church, but who lack one or more of the sacraments and desire to receive them.  It also allows for young people who have missed one of the sacraments for whatever reason.  Practising Catholics may also join in the prayer and study and thus demonstrate to enquirers that we are a welcoming community.
