7th October, Twenty-Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time

Dear Friends,

Kerala Flooding

We are blessed with a strong presence in the parish of many parishioners and their families who come from the South Indian state of Kerala. In august this year many parts of the state underwent the worst monsoon flooding in nearly 100 years. The death toll was 483 which was a big miracle in itself as nearly one million people had to be evacuated from their homes and many would end up losing everything they had worked for. At the time during school holidays etc., many thoughtful people asked “what were we doing as a community to show solidarity with our fellow parishioners?” Sadly for some they will never be able to return “home”.

The local Keralan community has direct links with the areas of need. So if anybody wishes to make a donation towards this good cause, please take an orange envelope marked – Keralan Flood Relief – and return your donation in due course either at the Offertory or the Retiring collection at any Sunday Mass or take it to the Presbytery.

Finally: Fred was very grumpy so Maggie his wife said: It’s ok Freddie dear if you disagree with me. I can’t force you to be right.”

Thank you & God Bless,

Fr John
