30th May, Trinity Sunday

Today we celebrate the Feast of the Blessed Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. No, I am not going to attempt an explanation. One could rightly say, we are mysteries ourselves, quite capable of surprising not only others but ourselves. If we are a bit of an unknown quantity how much more the God who gradually revealed himself especially in the ministry of Jesus. We were baptised in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. We share in the divine life as a gift, we have done nothing to earn it. One way of helping ourselves to grow in appreciation of this gift, God’s love for us, is in a repeated reading of scripture, especially the New Testament. You see the parables are meant to hold a mirror to life. We could well benefit from looking in that mirror.
c Next weekend, we celebrate the Solemnity of The Body and Blood of Christ, Corpus Christi. During all Masses at the weekend we will have the Renewal of Promises by Ministers of the Eucharist and Readers.
